“James understood from the very first conversation I had with him what it was I was trying to achieve here at King’s. I want to embed coach-like language in all areas of work with pupils in order to better enable them in taking responsibility for their own progress through school. James’ willingness to create a flexible programme for all colleagues is refreshingly unique, as is his understanding of the realities of facilitating change in a traditional school setting such as ours. The outcome really has been far better than I could have hoped, instead of having to persuade colleagues to take a course they have been queuing up to participate and even the most sceptical have been heard to mutter the immortal words “well that was not what I expected, I’ve actually enjoyed myself”; a great reflection coming as it did at the end of an intense two day programme.
